What it does

Find the businesses, then actually reach them

LeadBox is here to help you make money, not to help you spend an afternoon searching. It finds the businesses worth calling, and it can write the first email for you. Here is the whole of it, in plain words.

Finding businesses

A kind of business, a city, and a list you can work through

This is the part people arrive for, and the part that has had the most use.

The main thing

Real businesses, with what you need to start

Say what kind of business you want to reach and pick a Cameroonian city. Add a neighbourhood when you want a list you can walk in one afternoon. What comes back is a list you can work through: the name, the neighbourhood, a phone number, and a website and an email address where the business has one. Open any row for the street and the full address. Repeats are merged, numbers that have stopped working are flagged, and records a person has checked by hand are marked, so you know where to start.

Step 2: the list you get

Quick search

The first results, in seconds. This is the one for when you want to start calling now.

Deep search

Looks through everything in the area instead of stopping at the first page. It takes up to a minute, and it is what you want when you need the whole neighbourhood.

It gets better as it is used

Everything found is kept in our own growing database of Cameroonian businesses. The ones already in it come back instantly, and the same search next month finds more than it does today.

Reaching them

Work the list yourself, or let LeadBox send the first email

A list is worth nothing until somebody picks up. So there are two ways out of it, and you can use both.

By hand, today

Tick the businesses you want. Download a real Excel file to hand to whoever is making the calls, or copy a WhatsApp ready block and paste it into a chat or a group. Tap one business to open WhatsApp straight on its number, or to call it.

Step 3: ready for WhatsApp

By email, on its own

Connect your own email address and write one message, once. LeadBox fills in each business's name, city and kind of business, and sends a few a day while you get on with your work. The emails leave from your name and your address, so a business that replies replies to you.

  • You write the message. Nothing is written by a machine.
  • You choose how many go out in a day. It starts at one.
  • Send yourself a test first and read it in your own inbox.
  • One switch stops everything, without losing anything.
Example: one day of sending

An illustration of a day of email outreach: three messages leaving from your own address, two already sent at 09:14 and 11:40, one still waiting, and a note that at most three go out a day between 08:00 and 18:00.

Slow is the feature here, not a limit.

On purpose

It sends slowly, because your address is worth protecting

This is the opposite of a bulk sender, and that is the point. An address that fires off a hundred cold emails in an hour stops being trusted, and then nothing it sends arrives, including the mail your business depends on. A few a day, from a real person, with real replies coming back, is how an address stays trusted. So LeadBox is deliberately slow, and here is exactly how slow.

  1. 01

    Your address, not ours

You connect your own email account. There is no shared sending address, so your name is on the message and the replies come back to you.

  2. 02

    One message, written once

Write it as you would write to one person. Each business's details are filled in for you, and you can read exactly what will go out before anything does.

  3. 03

A few a day, not a few hundred

You set the number. It starts at one a day, and everything else waits its turn in a queue you can see.

  4. 04

    Spread through the working day

Messages leave one at a time, between 08:00 and 18:00, with at least three quarters of an hour between them. Never a burst.

  5. 05

    Never the same business twice

Once a business has been emailed, it is off the list for good. Not today, not next month, and not if you disconnect your address and start again.

  6. 06

    A pause switch

Stop the sending whenever you like. Your message, your queue and your record of who you have written to are all kept, and the queue picks up where it left off.

Keeping track

Nobody gets contacted twice

The least exciting part of LeadBox, and the one that saves the most embarrassment.

  • Mark a business as contacted

Flip the switch on a row once you have called or written. The row steps back out of the way, and the mark is yours alone. Nobody else sees it.

  • One list of everyone you have reached

The businesses you have marked, gathered in one place so you never ring the same shop twice. Un-mark one and it goes back into the pool.

  • The record of what went out, and when

For emails, LeadBox keeps the date, the business and the subject that actually left. If one was refused, the reason the receiving mail server gave is there too, rather than a message that quietly never arrived.

Designed to grow

This page is the list, and the list gets longer

LeadBox is young and it is built one piece at a time. Finding businesses came first. Sending the first email came second. When something new works, it is written up here in the same plain words. Nothing appears on this page before it works.

Being worked on

  1. 01More towns. Coverage is deepest in Douala and Yaoundé and thinner elsewhere. Ask for a town that is missing and we will look at adding it.
  2. 02Deeper coverage and more phone numbers, from data we gather and check ourselves.
  3. 03Shared lists, so a team can work from one set of contacts.

No dates, and nothing here is a promise. What a paid plan would add, and why it has no price yet, is on the pricing page.
